vNOTES (Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery)
No external incisions on the abdomen at all. Surgery is performed through a natural orifice, making it the minimally invasive approach with the fewest wounds available today.
Natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (NOTES) passes surgical instruments through a natural orifice (such as the vagina) into the body cavity, leaving no external wounds on the abdomen.
It's not that there is no surgery, but that there are no external wounds. The procedure is still guided by precise laparoscopy, with the same safety as traditional minimally invasive surgery.
When It's Suitable
It is currently used mainly for gynecologic procedures such as hysterectomy and ovarian surgery. Not every case is suitable; your doctor will confirm this during your pre-operative evaluation.
Recovery After Surgery
With no abdominal wounds, post-operative pain is low and the recovery period is short. For women who want no visible trace of surgery at all, this is currently the ideal choice.
